WAITING ON A FRIEND

The Local Wine bar is reimagined, appealing to a broader clientele: cafe by day, wine bar by night. Inspired in concept by The Rolling Stones song, ‘Waiting on a Friend’, the layout features many seating options to ‘catch up with a friend’. The material and colour palette are sympathetic to the site’s urban surrounds, creating a sophisticated yet accessible and comfortable space.

The interior has been stripped back to its honest and original materials of brick and concrete. Items removed were put to re-use and new materials are natural, sustainable materials of high quality to ensure longevity.

Accents of YMnIn Blue, which I had discovered during my exploration of colour in another subject, has been applied to create a space enveloped in the universal colour - blue.

The layout was driven by ‘Universal Design’ with curtained off ‘quiet and private spaces’ along with fully accessible point of sale, bar, bathrooms and seating, for both staff and guests.
